Me taking a break from the Confident Business Diva conference to write appreciation list. Santa Monica, US, April ’13
Be unwilling to think any thoughts about anything that don’t feel good and instead focus your attention on the pieces of your life or surroundings or people that do uplift you.
If you practice this shift in attention long enough, things and people and events start to show up in your life to reflect back to you your new improved emotional state.
Your prickly colleague will suddenly ease up and be more supportive after you focus on the parts of them that you do like — maybe its the way they dress or the jokes they crack or their talent for getting things done.
(or if they are just too difficult – stop thinking about them altogether – and focus on the positive aspects of another colleague!)
You’ll start losing weight easily – almost relaxing it off, when you give up an excruciating diet – and instead focus on the parts of your body that you like – maybe you are glad it is pain-free – that your hair is gorgeous, that when you feed it delicious healthy food like homemade chicken vegetable soup (with potatoes!) and lots of veggies – your skin glows, your digestion normalizes and you fight off a cold when everyone gets sick.
Money will start flowing to you – when you think about how precious the amount that you have now and all the nice things it can buy – even the teeny tiny stuff we take for granted: such as an aromatic cup of coffee at that nice cafe or a pretty new notebook to write down the things you appreciate, or to buy the latest ITunes song or your favourite bubble bath salts.
The more you appreciate what you have, what’s working for you and what feels good- and ignore what is lacking or what you don’t want about it — the more the good stuff will chase you.
This is called the Art of Allowing – and it’s the most powerful way to call in your dream house, partner, job, trip, health, body size into your life.
Now try this:
Appreciation is the most powerful way to drop into a high emotional vibration and feel good.
Make it a daily habit to write down (or type up) a list of objects, moments, people, feelings you appreciate and why you appreciate them.
Really dive into the positive emotions that surface when you are in a state of appreciation and also notice what’s happening in your body when you are doing this. Is it softer, more relaxed and open?
Get really detailed and don’t take anything for granted.
Examples:
The air-conditioning in the room where you are reading this – especially if you live in a warm climate. How cool and comfortable it feels on your skin – and that from your comfortable physical state you are free to do what matters to you – such as reading this email, surfing the Web for the latest fashion deals or simply taking a nap to revive yourself.
Your pain-free (or even mostly pain-free- it doesn’t have to be perfect) body in the moment. It bends, folds up, straightens and takes you where you love to go.
The steaming mug of coffee or refreshing glass of fresh Mango juice at your side.
How delicious it tastes and how refreshed or energized or alive you feel after drinking it.
The unexpected lovely email you received from a friend – just asking about you and letting you know she is there for you when you need her.
The bright, sunny day and the sight of greenery- how pretty it looks and relaxing to the self.
Really, there are no limits to this… the more you do this process — the longer and better you will feel – and then, the money, abundance, right people, opportunities, weight loss — whatever it is you truly desire — will show up.
